What is it you are really believing God for. Is it, ‘He will supply all your need according to His riches in Glory?”
Therefore tests and trails and temptations will come. The TTT’s will come to test your faith, what you really believe, what more specifically, that particular word you have sown in your heart (mind).
Therefore the TTT’s have come immediately to:
1. challenge what you know, what you are thinking according to God’s word.
2. Steal that word
3. Cause you to fail, give up, throw the towel in.
James says it like this: 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations;
Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. KJV
Count it all joy…..knowing. You can only count the encounter of the TTT’s when you KNOW something.
Joy is different from happiness: happiness is based in your comfort.
Joy is based on the Word of God. Jesus said:
Jhn 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.
Notice he said ‘I have spoken”…..the WORD has spoken these things to you,
that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full. for the Joy of the WORD in you (the Lord) is your strength!
TTT’s (including the flesh and emotions) come to put pressure on the way you think that lines up with the word of God.
Knowing then: that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
The goal of the trying of your faith is not patience. What James is saying here is that the in the trying of your faith, employ patience. or hire patience. The amplified says: ‘in the proving, TTT of your faith BRING OUT endurance and steadfastness and patience, so that you can patiently endure. v4 and let endurance and steadfastness and patience HAVE FULL PLAY, in other words through employing patience you will outlast the TTT and become, perfect (mature), fully developed LACKING NOTHING!
In other words what you lacked before you started standing in faith on God’s word, will be filled up when patience has run its full course,* outlasting the TTT’s.
Why does it take so long or longer than we often anticipate? because often what we are believing God for, we are not ready to receive, or deal with, so in the TTT’s God is preparing you to be in a such a state of character and maturity so that when you receive what you have been believing for you will be able to handle it and it will be a blessing not a weight.
