Flu, Finances and Fear

Flu, Finances and Fear

“I always get the flu this time of year”,  “I think I am going down with a cold”,  “ The credit crunch will kill me”, “I’m afraid I cannot do this”, “ Don’t cross the road without Mummy, as Mummy is afraid you will get run over.”

Do you really mean what you are saying when you say these things? Jesus said: “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”   Matt.12:34.  What you believe in your heart will come out of your mouth!  When you hit your finger with a hammer it gives you a jolt, and when you are jolted you spill what you are carrying!

Imagine you are struggling to swim in a sea infested with all sorts of dangerous fish, and littered with large ships,  fast moving water craft, huge waves, big winds and freezing temperatures- such statements as “I’m afraid the sharks will get me this time,” “I always get the flu this time of year when its cold,” “ Swimming against this tide is killing me,” reflect what you perceive through your senses and experiences in the sea.  Then a helicopter comes along and throws you a rope, to which you cling as it pulls you completely out of the sea: you are ‘saved’ from all that was in, on and happening to the sea.  Salvation ‘in Christ’ is of this magnitude.  Paul says it this way in his letter to the Colossians: 1:13. “The Father has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”

The helicopter lowers you  onto solid ground at the water’s edge, and even though sharks’ fins can still be seen among the raging, cold, windswept waves, somehow you know that due to being rescued by the helicopter,  the sea and everything in it is powerless to hurt you anymore.  Consequently your language  changes, it becomes the confession of a person who realises they have been ‘saved’,  who is blessed of God.   “Thank you for saving me, “Thank you God for healing me,”  “Thank you God  that You  are my total resource,” “ Your perfect love casts out fear,”  “I was a sinner but now I am a righteous man/woman; I  am a new creation In Christ,”  “I am an ambassador of Christ,”  (2Cor.5:17-20) “Therefore I am amply supplied, by His grace, having an abundance.” (2Cor.9:8. Amp).  “By your stripes I have been healed.” (1Pet 2:24)

Even though your situation and circumstances may scream the opposite and your body  feels as if it is still struggling in the sea, the Word says the opposite about you, so which report will you believe?  If then you really believe the report of your deliverance, let the meditation of your heart and the words of your mouth be acceptable (pleasing) in His sight, and be in line with what the Word says rather than what you think and feel. Ps.19:14.

You do not deny your body is sick, but you can deny the right of sickness and disease to remain in your body.  In Matt.17:20, Jesus talks about faith.  Mustard seed faith enabled you to grab hold of the rope, faith that is watered and nurtured by meditation in the Word together with what you think and say will grow to become mountain moving faith.

Fear is Satan’s key weapon, it is the reciprocal of faith; the word should never cross your lips in any form.  Fear is faith in the ability of an object, situation or circumstance to harm you. Think about what you say, take every thought captive and measure it up against what the Word says (2Cor.10:5).  Do your words line up with Gods Word?  Are they pleasing in His sight?  Start small, grow big!  Change the confession of your mouth to agree with what the Word of God says about you and notice the difference.  “Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”  Prov.18:21. Amp.
