You are the sum total of who is ‘rubbing off on you!’
The Anointing of God is not an ‘it,’ it is a person, The word anoint means to ‘smear on or rub on or rub in.’ Therefore the anointing you have received is the person of the Holy Spirit and it is He who will ‘rub off on you!’
1Jn.2:27 But the anointing which you have received of him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him.
Jn.14.26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Rom.5:5 And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
You cannot separate the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the person of the Holy Spirit. You and He are to become One. The time you spend with the Holy Spirit will have an impact on your life just like in the natural world, the people you spend time with their natural character traits will ‘rub off’ on you.
The Holy Spirit will teach us the things that Jesus has said. This does not mean that the five fold ministry gifts are redundant, far from it, but the Holy Spirit will bear witness with what you are taught. It is one thing to be taught, it is quite another to have personal revelation from what you have been taught. This is the work of the Holy Spirit, to bring what you have been taught to your remembrance and reveal these things to you. When revelation comes it changes you. The Holy Spirit therefore is to help you in the practical things of life.
What is the common denominator in the above three scriptures?
Yes that’s right – The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is the anointing which brings results, He is the teacher and He is the one who has brought the love of God into your heart.
You will not be able to separate the love of God that came from the Holy Spirit, and the anointing of God that came from the Holy Spirit, from the Holy Spirit.
Don’t ever try to separate what came from Him, from Him! i.e don’t try to have anointing without the Holy Spirit! Don’t try to have love without the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will always deal with you to keep you within the boundaries of love, or if you have strayed outside them to bring you back within them. The main temptation we face every day is to walk outside of love, why? because getting outside the boundaries of love will affect the anointing working in your life.
How you deal with others, your attitude towards others, especially your wife if you are married, therefore must be governed by faith in the fact that the anointing working in you to is to mainifest Jesus to those around you.
I commend you to 1Cor.13 again….do a check up are you obeying these words, they are for you own good and protection.
